At first, this wooden bench was scary
Noises running in and out of my ears
Signs and wonders requested but denied
Life is more than I can see and feel
Never left alone and never rejected
Okay I’ll sit here but my mind is racing
Pass every speed limit and caution light thoughts swerve
God, you know how I am
Teach me how to listen and obey
I’ve been afraid of sitting still
This old wooden bench and silence can be where we meet up.

Hear and give ear
Do not enter into judgement
I muse on the work of your hands
Don’t hide and no matter where I go, help me trust
Teach me, forever teach me of your ways
I always want to be with you, you’re safe.
